YOUR GUNNER BLOW IT !!!!

The gunners went into the second month of the year knowing they have an exceptional chance to break the duck and win a trophy for the first time in 6 years. However an embarrassing blunder by Arsenal’s koscielny in the Carling Cup final Gifted Birmingham the win and caused the loyal Arsenal fans to leave empty handed once again, so the wait has to go on for Wenger and co.

The Londoners are still in the run for the remaining three competitions including the EPL, FA cup and UCL, so the question remains do they still have a hope to bring in silverware in the cobweb infested cabinet.

The EPL is becoming a two horse race as May looms ever closer and Wengers men must see this as their best chance to win something. They trail the red devils on the Premier League table, although they do host the leaders at the emirates which can be the game that decides the title. It’s been one hell of a calendar for the gunners, fixtures left right and centre might have just taken a toll on the players looking at the injury list. Van Persie, Fabregas, Walcott just to name a few. With a second leg tie against Spanish giants Barca their odds are looking quite dull considering all the casualties for Arsenal and their previous meetings at the Nou Camp things are not looking to healthy for them. After finally getting the better of league one side Leyton Orient after a second attempt the gunners have been paired with yep you guessed it, Manchester United at Old Trafford. So their overall chances of winning Silverware are looking slim.

I have to partly put blame on Wenger this season, his desperation for trophies seems like he is doing everything wrong just to win. The Arsenal fans would have loved to win a trophy this season, but the Carling Cup…. I’m not too sure you can count that as a trophy these days. This cup is made for the “smaller teams” and youngsters to grab some experience, Arsenal usually field a 3rd string team for this tournament, but for some reason or another this season has been different and I just can’t put my finger on it WHY? Using your top players in meed week fixtures against championship and league one teams is he that desperate for silverware, for this reason I think arsenal have blown their chances.

Arsenals congested fixture list has partly came due to the reason they have failed to kill of games earning them replay’s week in week out. 1 down 3 to go for the gunners but it does look like another trophyless campaign may be on the way and arsenal fans cannot be too shocked if this happens considering it has happened on a regular basis recently.

SPEND OR IT’S THE END……

Man utd fans everywhere hold your breath, the resurgence of Chelsea and the desperate gunners are not too far behind. It wasn’t ever going to be easy for the red devils this season, considering they haven’t really made any improvements to the squad over the summer period. Chelsea are out to claim a second straight title, Arsenal are desperate for Silverware and Man City are still trying to Buy their way to Victory.

Here we go again yes the same old problem…Is Ronaldo forgotten at old Trafford, NO!! But even worse Carlos Tevez seems to be the more regretted sale. YES Dimitar Berbatov is in fine Form and Rooney is slowly grasping that form that made him King of England but really how long can it last? And is it enough to contest the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona?

Man Utd have not looked at all convincing this season, although undefeated and on top of the Premier League they ARE NOT the team they once were. SO WHY HAS FERGIE NOT SPENT MONEY?? Is his time looking up at Old Trafford? Antonio Valencia’s early season injury has limited attacking options and has definitely made Nani work overtime. Even Giggs has had to fill in, and not on one occasion but several times his 36, even Scholes 35 has played one too many games. It’s time to spend some money United or else….

With the Pre-Mature retirement of Gary Neville (although should of retired 5 years ago) and The Constant suspensions of Rafael, it looks like a Right Back is the place to start. So Ramos, Maicon, Dani Alves, Van Der Wiel who looks like the perfect fit??

With Van Der Sar finally retiring after an Amazing Career, Who can handle the pressure as United’s number 1. Julio Cesar, Rene Adler, Hugo Lloris?

One place on the park Man utd seem to be struggling is the centre of the park, nobody has ever been able to replace the COURAGES Roy Keane, Carrick was an instant fail. So who do the red devils look for, Gourcuff, Modric, Hamsik?

It’s time Ferguson woke up and decided to buy some players. Van Der Vaart would have loved to join united before his move to spurs, look at him now, his one of the Epl’s deadliest players, but no, Fergie decided to spend the same amount of money Van Der Vaart was worth on BEBE. YES BEBE his made one EPL appearance as a sub that got subbed, yes he was that good he came on then off, was he injured?? Nooooooooooooo his just let’s say this nicely, United were better off playing with 10 men!! The signing of Chicarito was a great addition to the squad for 6 million pounds, but Utd must buy more, because the EPL is not WON on own Goals, ref’s decisions and 103rd min goals from constant additional “FERGIE TIME”.

WHO SHOULD MANUTD SIGN??

TWO MANY MILLIONS…..

The fantastic business to capture Uruguayan star Luis Suarez from Ajax for just a figure of approximately 23 million pounds, meant things were looking on the up for the red half of Merseyside. Kenny Dalglish has, what some will say “rejuvenated” the club and brought back the lifeless Fernando Torres to spark things up front for the reds. 7 points from 9 and back to back wins in January has seen Liverpool jump up to 7th on the EPL ladder after a dismal start to the campaign.

The signing of Suarez and the good form of Torres might have seen Liverpool revive their European hopes, but it wasn’t to be. A transfer request handed in by the Spanish striker just days before the winter transfer market had closed fired rivals Chelsea to take advantage of the situation. The blues have been showing interest in the forward for many years and Abramovich thought it was time to “splash the cash” as they tried to get their title defence back on track. Continuous bids were rejected by the reds and the 1st of February loomed ever closer for clubs to make a move before the Fifa financial fair play kicked off in the summer. Last minute deals were being finalised across the globe, and then came, the MEGA 50 million pound bid from Chelsea, which gave Liverpool no other choice but to accept the bid.

With very little time left on the clock, desperation proved disastrous as Liverpool offered a sum of 35 million pounds!! for Toon “bad boy” Andy Carroll. A bid labelled as “MADNESS” as the English striker made his way to Liverpool from his hometown in Newcastle. Given the number 9 shirt to eliminate any memories left by the previous one that Liverpool fans will never forgive for his move, Andy now carries the burden of being the most paid for British transfer in history, not too bad for a 22 year old.

From having little money in prior transfer markets have the reds gone ABSOLUTLY INSANE to spend this much money. Considering this is CARROLL’s first year in the top flight and has only netted 11 epl goals, the question remains WHY WAS THIS MUCH MONEY SPENT ?

MR DAVID VILLA a striker who has played in everything from champion’s league to world cups, a player who has netted over 200 club goals and has a world cup winning medal to go along with his name …… yet his move from Valencia was valued at 33million pounds. SO ANDY CARROLL IS WORTH MORE??  ..  WELL I “S.JAY” BEG TO DIFFER

Karim Benzema, Carlos Tevez, Edin Dzeko even Black cats traitor Darren Bent all find themselves under that price tag and yet they are PROVEN GOAL SCORING strikers and have experienced the biggest stages in football. SO WHY NOT SPEND THE MONEY…. Hmmm let’s see…. JUST A TAD WISER THAN THAT MR DALGLISH. You craved that money for so long KOP fans and it’s been thrown away just like any Top 4 hopes that lingered around Anfield.

Is ANDY CARROLL the next Robbie Keane???????? Only time will tell, but that sort of money, it must mean plenty of goals promised from the Englishmen unlike the Irishmen that lived up to nothing he promised.

But “OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW” TWO young Forwards are brought in which will build up a new reds strike force. Many millions were spent and it’s time to see who can deliver, it isn’t a surprise if Suarez fills the shoes of the departed Torres and becomes the new Kop hero, Ironic that it is he who takes over Dalglish’s number 7 jersey…. can he write himself into the history books we will wait and see.. And where better to start than against, YOU GUESSED IT … CHELSEA on Sunday evening.

I see CARROLL as BAD MONEY SPENT SO who was worth the money??

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

ROUND OF 16….

The UEFA Champions League the most prestigious cup on the planet, but who will hold the trophy come May. Defending champions Inter seem a different team without Jose, and will find it difficult to retain but anything can happen after all it’s the UEFA Champions League.

AC MILAN VS TOTTENHAM

It all starts off at the San Siro, where Italian Giants host the cup surprise package Tottenham. The seven champions league titles seem a distant memory for Milan supporters as a squad hit by many injuries are struggling for consistency. They are on top of the Seria A after all, but league is nothing when the European Cup is around. An AC Milan squad that look to getting older by the day, Ambrosini 33, Nesta 34, Abbiati 33, Pirlo 31, Seedorf, Gattuso just a few names that have a bit too much experience for their own good. But the inform Ibrahimovic and support cast of Robinho, Cassano and Pato look like AC have the ability to cause trouble to an injury hit Tottenham outfit. The “Surprise Package” has lifted to the occasion… piping Manchester city for 4th spot last season… and now favourites to knock out the Rosseneri, they’ve come a long way. The reason they are favourites is most likely due to the fact of the previous performances against Milan, Inter Milan. Gareth Bale and Van Der Vaart have made Tottenham’s attack lethal scoring a tournament high 18 goals. But injury woes at the back have left them vulnerable conceding the most goals for a 1st place team at 11.

My prediction: AC Milan’s attack causes matters for concern I can see a high scoring affair, but Milan’s ageing squad worries me, their lack of pace at the back and bale’s electrifying speed means only one thing, a White Hart Lane return fixture will prove the difference, Tottenham on away goals.

1st leg: 3-2;

2nd leg: 2-1                          Tottenham 4-4 AC Milan (Spurs on away goals)

ARSENAL VS BARCELONA

Last season’s meeting is one Wenger will be telling his squad to forget a 2-2 draw at home followed by a 4-0 loss to Messi away. It seems like the same old story Fabregas wants out and Arsenal still don’t have a keeper. Looks like the more Arsenal tries the less they succeed, coming 2nd to Shakter proved a devastating blow as they host the 3 time European Champions. David Villa has only bolstered the attack and it doesn’t look like they have a weak spot anywhere on the pitch. Unless a miracle and I mean a miracle i don’t see Arsenal progressing, Barcelona go in as Firm favourites and are also looking as the team to beat in the competition.

My Prediction: Unless Vermalean and Nasri return and Fabreagas and Walcott step up to the plate I don’t see arsenal winning either of the games, Barcelona have too many match winners not to see this one out, A game where football is played by both teams should be enjoyable to watch.

1st Leg:  1-1

2nd Leg:  3-0                            BARCELONA 4-1 ARSENAL

LYON VS REAL MADRID

6 years running now Madrid has not progressed past this stage, But surely Mourinho must, The last team to knock Madrid out, was YEP LYON, and they are looking to do it again and I don’t see why not. Ronaldo seems to continuously carry the team, Higuain looks to be out for the remainder of the campaign and unless kaka or Benzema against his former club can learn how to put one into the back of the net, it may be troubling times for the Spanish side. Lyon are no pushovers possess top quality players such as Gourcuff, Bastos. Lisandro Lopez and shot stopper Lloris it may be a game that goes either way depending on who shows up on the day.

My Prediction: Whoever wants it more on the day, I can’t put it past Mourinho’s talent but Madrid has failed 6 years in a row. Bernabeu second leg to carry Madrid through but don’t be too surprised if there not come Quarter Finals.

1st Leg: 1-1

2nd Leg: 1-1 (pen 4-3 Madrid)              REAL MADRID 2-2 LYON (Real PEN)

INTER VS BAYERN:

Final Replay…… but it doesn’t look like either look like the teams they were last season. Under Leonardo they are on the up, but so are Munich with the return of Arjen Robben, both teams can attack but alike struggle to defend. Gomez is starting to find the net for Munich in all competitions, and with injuries slowing down at the Inter camp they will look to proceed.

My Prediction: Bayern want revenge, but I don’t think it will happen Eto’o is starting to find some great form which will spell disaster for the Munich backline, Ribery and Robben will need to be key in the fixture for Munich to have any hope.

1st Leg: 3-1

2nd Leg: 2-1                   INTER 4-3 MUNICH

MARSEILLE VS MAN UTD:

French Champions will be kicking themselves after this draw put with English giants Manchester united. Marseille started slow and are now picking up the pace in the French Ligue 1. Manchester remains undefeated this season and defensively look untouchable only to concede one goal through the group stage. The form of Berbatov, Vidic and Nani this season has been impressive also with the long awaited return of Valencia Marseille will have their work cut out.

My Prediction: Marseille at home have a lot support they have a good strike force with Remy and Gignac but unfortunately I don’t think it will be enough to overcome the red devils, not as straight forward as people think but Man Utd to go through to the next stage.

1st Leg: 1-1

 2nd Leg: 2-0                           MAN UTD 3-1 MARSEILLE

KOBENHAVEN VS CHELSEA

One word “UNLUCKY” not the team you want to face, but Kobenhaven done well to overcome Rubin Kazan and Panathinkos but the fun stops here. Torres, Drogba, Lampard, Terry, Cech the list goes on, coached by Carlo Ancelotti I see Chelsea as one of the sides to contest for it this time round and see this game as nothing more than a straight forward victory for the blues.

My Prediction: Straight forward wins for Chelsea over both legs they will dominate to send out a message to any rivals, a great achievement for the Danish club to get this far but think of next year it’s over for now.

1st Leg: 0-2

2nd Leg: 3-0                             CHELSEA 5-0 KOBENHAVEN

VALENCIA VS SHALKE:

FAREWELL Villa, farewell Silva, Farewell Valencia, not the case the Spanish side has done very well and exceeded expectations, impressive during the group stage, taking united to the very end and not giving the an easy run. The team they host are German strugglers Shalke. Shalke have been disappointing in the Bundesliga but like Valencia have done well on the European stage, and the signings of Raul and Hunterlaar will give them a big boost with their previous Champions league experience.

My Prediction: Should be a very good competitive game both would feel like they got a good draw to avoid the bigger clubs. I feel that Shalke aren’t the team they once were, although Valencia lost some key players, Juan Mata and co seem to have stepped up, I can see Valencia in the Quarters but no further than that.

1st Leg: 2-1

2nd Leg 1-2                                   VALENCIA 4-2 SHALKE

ROMA VS SHAKTER:

It surprised many when Shakter finished ahead of Arsenal in the group stage, but can they continue the surprises. Roma are definitely favourites to proceed but must have Totti, and De Rossi lead the way past a very impressive Shakter side. Eduardo’s summer transfer from the Gunners has looked a bargain as he knows how to find the back the net home and away.

My Prediction: The Italian side will see of the challenge at hand, and should go through comfortably. Although no push over’s Shakter will have to produce a great and I mean GREAT performance to pass this one.

1st Leg: 3-1

2nd Leg: 2-1                                     ROMA 4-3 SHAKTER

THE “SPECIAL ONE” 2 RETURN

Is it really that good, that good not even the best could resist. Is there going to be the second coming of the “Special One” to the best league in the world the Barclays Premier League, if by now people who haven’t got it, I am talking about the one the only JOSE MOURINHO, bow down in front of the special one.

It seems wherever he goes controversy follows…. coincidence I think not, a man who speaks nothing more than the truth, a man who speaks his mind, a man with great passion for the game of football, LOVE him or HATE him, he is the “Special One”. It seems that Mourinho can win, with anyone he manages from Portugal to England to Italy and now even trying to conquer the mighty Catalan giants in Spain. But it almost seems Jose feels fed up with media and the lack of entertainment that every league besides the epl possesses.

So is he going to return, his first time in England produced nothing but Controversy entertainment and a hell lot of trophies to go with it. He managed to get the better of Sir Alex, Wenger, and even if you want to add Rafa. He took over the reigns of Chelsea football club and done what he does best, make the team he manages the most hated team on the planet, is it his coaching style? Is it his ego? What makes him such a hated man?

PEOPLE THINK…. Doing it with Porto…. Fluke? Double with Chelsea…… Hmmm been done I guess? Treble with Inter…. His GOD. No ladies and gentlemen his Just the “Special One”.

As soon as he left the Premier League it feels as if something was missing. Since his departure Mourinho has been left with nothing short of disappointment as the other leagues seem inexistent in comparison to the EPL is it really that good of the league, that arguments for another day, we are talking about arguably the best manager in history. Mourinho has expressed his eagerness to come back to the premier league and “ENJOY” his work and offcourse complete any unfinished business. Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, who would he join, but it seems you could put the man at west ham and somehow find a way to win them a couple of titles.

If he returns he will definitely be a figure of concern for managers, he would greatly be welcomed by many neutrals and fans, you have to love him, His obsession of conquering Pep’s Barcelona is the only thing standing in his way of his return to the EPL he has unfinished business elsewhere, but he will return.

Which then leaves one question remaining, IS HE REALLY THE MANAGER EVER? Does he out do SIR ALEX?? CARLO ANCELOTTI? PEP GUARDIOLA?
